Tasty Tuesday: Recipe - Lentil Loaf & Mushroom Gravy (from @TheVeganProject)

It's the holiday season, and that means MANY meals with family and friends, and the incredible task of pleasing everyone's palate and stomachs! Never fear, for The Vegan Project put together an amazing cookbook called "What To Feed That Effing Vegan: The Holiday Edition" - purchase here.


The cookbook is full of tasty holiday recipes from brunch to dessert and everything in between, including today's Lentil Loaf with Mushroom Gravy. You can skip the turkey, turn up the flavour and please just about everyone with this tasty loaf.


Make Your Meal Even Healthier Tip:

The ground nuts (cashews) add richness and texture, the poultry seasoning adds familiar flavour, and while the flax helps bind it all together, it also adds fibre to this wonderful meat alternative. The mushroom gravy is so good and fresh you almost want to eat it on its own!

Tasty Tuesday: Recipe - Salmon & Lentils


It's "Tasty Tuesday", where every week we bring you new, fresh, local, healthy recipes and food tips. Find out what is in season, and what will keep you fuelled during and after your work outs!

I used to make this in university for a friend that had stomach issues, the recipe was from a book about IBS that is long gone, but this recipe is so easy to make I memorized it. I enjoy it because it's light but hearty and as you can see, very colourful.

Make Your Meal Even Healthier Tip:

You can add in more spinach as you like or even chop the salmon and make it into a salad on the go. The recipe requires only a small amount of oil, but you can eliminate it from the lentils if you prefer!

Tasty Tuesday: Recipe - Vegan Shepherd's Pie


It's "Tasty Tuesday", where every week we bring you new, fresh, local, healthy recipes and food tips. Find out what is in season, and what will keep you fuelled during and after your work outs!

Did you know that turnips are in season. I know, I know...it took me a while to decide what kind of recipe to put them in, as it's not exactly a go-to veggie at the grocery store! But turnips have a lot of health benefits, and with this wacky winter weather (warm, COLD, rain, snow?!, sun!), having something hearty, nutritious, and shareable like a shepherd's pie sounded like just the trick. Also this couldn't be easier to make, and it'd vegan!

Make Your Meal Even Healthier Tip:

All the vegetables in this recipe, from start to finish can be raw, fresh ingredients. No need for packaged foods or canned. If you have things like frozen corn or peas from the summer, feel free to add them in! And as always, use that frozen vegetable stock from the freezer - so handy!
